Default Gas -octane ??

I bought a used scooter but didn't ask if they used the recommended #95 or #92 octane. How important is it to use the same?

Default Octane

If you bought a Kymco B&W150 or a European motorscooter and it said 91 or 92 octane fuel, that would translate into a USA octane rating of about 86. The European and most Orential scoots use the RON (research octane number) and the USA uses MON + RON/2 octane rating which is lower number. I burn 86 octane in my B&W150 with no problems. Most scooters are low compression, less than 10.5:1 and can burn the lower octane fuel. J
