Phoenix 150 from Bert's Mega Mall
We got our Lance Phoenix 150 yesterday from Bert's Mega mall for $2900 out the door - could have done better bargaining i am sure, but we went there after work tired and didn't have the energy. I have never been on a scooter before so we had a close friend, old time biker take it home and test it for us. He's used to his 600+ cc Ninja so to him it seems underpowered - having to pull the throttle a bit too much, but it performed well and went over 55 mph easily. Stable and comfortable ride - the 16 inch wheels definitely help stability at higher speeds. However I still feel a bit uneasy with the purchase. The quality of the scooter is obviously inferior to say Piaggio FLY-150 (the other scooter we were looking into). Also the plastic body is not well put together and things don't fit nicely with almost 1/4 caps. I will be going back to Bert's Mega Mall for this reason. Also a missing bolt from the engine cover thanks to Bert's "superior" service. I don't know how this place has made such a name for itself - I find the staff extremely rude and not at all knowledgeable. They cannot answer simple questions regarding the products they sell - the mechanics obviously rush service otherwise my engine cover wouldn't be missing a bolt. Unfortunately they aren't many places that have as much choices to offer when it come to scooters.
I give the Lance Phoenix 150 - 6.5 out of 10 - hopefully I'll change my mind in the near future.
UPDATE: I have since gone to the dealer and fixed the issues mentioned above. Scooter rides nice, throttle has to be pushed and it's a bit looser than on a motorcycle but I like the extra height the 16" wheels provide - great visibility.
[8.5 out of 10]
