Before winter the scooter ran fine. After we fired it up this spring we noticed the scooter had lost a significant amount of power. On a long straight away I am only able to get it up to 35mph. We thought it might be the gas so I filled it up with premium, but still no change. I check the oil level and air filter those seemed fine. I also checked the spark plug. It looked a little worn so I'm replacing it tonight.

Does anyone have any ideas on why the scooter would have lost so much power? Could it be a carburetor adjustment?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to try putting Seafoam or Lucas upper cylinder head lube in with your fuel as it sounds as if you may have a jet plugging up.Be sure and follow the directions as to how much to use.I hope this helps as it would be a cheap fix for you.

I had the same problem.The solution is you need to clean the carburator.Even though you probably took all the gas out before storage.There was a drain hose with a plug that is connected to lower part of the carburator that still had gas in it .If you didn't empty that gas .The gas fouls the carburator.I cleaned mine myself.I took out the storage compartment that is under the seat and cleaned the carburator and jets .Here is a video on how you can clean the carburator YouTube - STOCK 50CC SCOOTER CARB CLEANING #2
