I purchased a 2006 Roketa Maui and am experiencing the same problems you described. I've had an experienced auto mechanic look at the bike as well as doing a thorough tune-up, maintenance job on it and he and a friend who builds Harleys tinkered with a few things but no improvement. The friend who knows motorcycles said it has no compression and that involves the muffler/exhaust system. I'm going to have to whole muffler removed from the scooter and the thinnner pipe that runs into the muffler is going to be soaked in some mineral spirits and get cleaned out as I'm being told it gets all caked up in there and without the proper air being able to get through it suffers from the problems we are experiencing. No power or acceleration uphill, minimal power on level streets, stalling and backfiring upon start-up, etc.
I will advise if this attempt is successful in fixing the problem. Jeanne |

Do yourself a favor and ajust your valves and have your carb cleaned before you do anything drastic. Changing your muffler will have no effect on compression. Please visit ScootDawg Forum for more information from qualified scooter techs.

gpe3cjhave same issue. lost power. cleanad carb , pulled mufffer, drained fuel, replaced it, new fuel filter, new plug, Everything I can think of before I tear in too it. I think it might be the timing. So one question! Does yours sort of lug a little before it starts?

I have a Roketa and faced the same problem. I had a guy who actually looked at these kinds of scooters and he found the problem. In the carb there is a black diaphragm and there was a tear in it. I had to get a whole new carb because I couldn't order just the piece but once it was replaced, it worked 100% like the day I got it.
So maybe that might be of some help for any of you with this problem. |

I bought a roketa maui brand new. It has however never gone faster that 20mph. I was told it has to do with the carb, not sure though. When you first give it gas its snappy, but it quickly boggs down and sound like its starving for gas. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated

I also had the exact same issue with my scooter (Roketa Tahiti 150CC). It worked perfectly and then one day it lost all its power!! I read the forum about the little black thing in the carburetor with a hole. I opened it up and there it was!! It also had a rip. I replaced the carb with one I bought new off EBAY which is identical to the ones that are sold direct by manafacturer and after shipping about $30.00 cheaper. Guess what??? It now runs perfectly. All power restored. I'm not a mechanic nor have I ever worked on scooters before until today and I was easily able to change the carburetor. Thanks for the previous posts as it solved my issue perfectly. THANKS!!!

The reason it works is the diaphragm is made of nitrile rubber. Gorilla glue is a nitrile bonded rubber compound. it actualy becomes part of the diaphragm. it does not disolve with gasoline or carb cleaner ( do not use carb cleaner ) I will keep you up to date on how long it last. I found folks on the internets who have performed this same operation on big bikes and are currently on 2 to 3 years! |
