Default 2007 S-400 Schwinn Currie Electro Drive

Our friend would like to find out how she can tweak her scooter. It's a 2007 S-400, Schwinn, Currie Electro Drive.

Her biggest concern is to increase distance. She only gets, just barely, six miles round trip. Just how much can you upgrade this scooter? If you use stronger batteries, would you need different wiring? What about using NH, or Lithium batteries?

She is also wondering if she could upgrade the motor, change the gear, increase speed. She needs to climb a hill going over the overpass (both ways). The overpass is probably a good 15-20 degree incline each way.

She doesn't need a huge speed increase, but anything would be nice! Her maximum speed is around 8-10 mph.

My friend is a good mechanic and can even do welding and engine repair. She is a jack of all trades, and feels very confident working on her scooter. She only has one leg, and really needs this scooter to get around.
