SYM USA distributor, Carter Bros. Mfg., is reportedly "almost" out of business.
I called my local SYM dealer today, twice, and was told both times that Carter was broke and was shutting down. They are hoping SYM will find another dist. in US but, will be difficult in this economy most likely.

It is true. Carter is broke according to my contacts therre. They are hoping to make it until end of month. Seems they went too heavy on scooters errantly thinking gas would be at last summer's prices and now have only scooters.... parts scarce. Have very few staff remaining to even take a call or provide service.

Hopefully rumor of SYM becoming direct US distributor is true. SYM is good product but, current dist. is poor.

I am switching 100% to Kymco as my 2nd line.

Here it is July, and they are still going strong. In fact, I ordered parts three times lately, and they all arrived within three days.

SYM management denies this going out of business rumor.

And in any event, Carter is not the maker, SYM is, and they are worldwide.

That is nonsense. SYM is a bigger company worldwide than KYMCO. If anyone would go out of business, it would be CARTER Bros. who have mismanaged the brand from day one.
You can securely rely on the fact, that SYM is in the USA to stay, regradless of what CARTER might be up to.

Where is the SYM press reply about Carter Brothers MFG, Inc. going out of business and the google warnings about not trying to reach their sites because of viruses. The USA likes the maxi scooters. Where is the marketing and why only one distributor in the whole country. It makes you think?
