Former Owner of United Motors Xpeed-250i
Nothing but troubles.A United Motors Xpeed-250i delivered with 4600 miles on the odometer, requiring a replacement instrument cluster. 52 weeks later, I got the odometer replaced, in the mean time lost trip meter, got into KM mode and couldn't reset, then total failure. Also the seat split a main seam within 8 weeks. It took 44 weeks to get the new seat. 53 weeks to get an instruction manual. I raised enough fuss that they decided to buy back my scooter. Some 5 months later I got my check--short $1102 from what I paid for it.
Of interest to early production 2008 model owners is the fact that we were all misled in buying our scooters. We were promised in advertising, an illumination cluster. Go look at your scooter, note the 68 empty holes you have in your fairings. That is where the 68 LED's are supposed to be to "illuminate" your presence. 15 of front left and front right, and 19 on lef rear and right rear--or maybe I have it backwards. This is fraud, and should make a good recall situation for UM, to make your scooters into the more safety oriented vehicles you were sold.
What good is a warranty when they throw away your first year's warranty with unresolved problems? It is my intent to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission in the interest of all 2008 Scooter owners. UM's explanation is that this feature was for the Asian Market, and was therefore removed from Web advertising when it was brought to their attention. It is interesting that they would build US scooters with the same fairings, and the same openings for the LED's. What would it cost to include them in production? Maybe $10.00--and for that you risk the lives of your riders?
